The Lithuanian Gaming Regulatory Body has again penalized Top Sport and Amber Gaming for breaching the nation’s rules on promotional activities.
Amber Gaming, the firm behind the 7bet brand, and Top Sport were penalized for conducting gambling promotions within Lithuania. Both entities were determined to have contravened Article 10, Paragraph 19 of the Lithuanian Gambling Act, which governs the marketing and promotion of gambling to consumers.
In the instance of Top Sport, the operator was fined €25,000 (£22,228/$26,886) for sending an email to its clientele on August 31st of the previous year, containing links and specifics about their gambling services. This information encompassed details about their mobile application and website.
The regulatory body declared that by informing customers about their offerings, this was categorized as a form of promotion, and consequently, the operator violated national legislation.
Amber Gaming was discovered to have committed comparable violations, whereby between June and August of the preceding year, the operator dispatched two emails to customers containing information on how to establish a password for their 7bet account.
These emails included direct links to the password creation page, as well as banner graphics promoting the 7bet brand.
The governing body has reiterated that this conduct constitutes marketing and advertising, hence it is deemed a breach of Article 10, Section 19 of the Lithuanian Gaming Act. Amber Gaming was penalized €6,000 for breaking the rules.
The governing body stated that both rulings are not definitive decisions and can be contested.
Both Top Sport and Amber Gaming have been penalized for similar violations of the law, including Top Sport being fined in November of last year for sponsoring a prediction game for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Top Sport was also fined €15,000 last month for being found to have contravened the country’s regulations concerning CCTV in its retail gambling establishments.
Amber Gaming was fined €6,789 in May 2022 for violating laws regarding gambling promotion.
